Federal acquisition procurement rules continue to evolve to streamline and modernize the efficient acquisition of products and services. Join this session to hear our expert panelists discuss several changes that have occurred within the acquisition community over the past year including: executive orders, to the role of Robotic Process Automation (RPA technology) in contracting; the role of the large Best in Class (BIC) Government Wide Acquisition Contracts (GWACs) including complex scoring mechanisms and teaming constructs; and the use of Requests for Information (RFIs) in the down-select process.

Potential topics include:

  • What the future looks like for the Acquisition community
  • How will the executive orders impact the Acquisition community?
  • How will the government embed cybersecurity into RFPs?
  • FedRAMP modification
  • Whether the use of RFIs in down selects has been effective
  • Will protests continue to delay and monopolize government contracting officials’ time?
  • Will CPARS still continue to carry as much weight as they have in the past as an effective measure of reviewing past performance?

The COVID 19 pandemic caught the entire world off guard. The United States implemented a “whole of government response” but was it enough to inform experts how to address the next pandemic? This session will explore how emerging technologies can be used to anticipate the next pandemic and how the federal government and supporting communities can collaborate with one another to leverage the lessons learned from COVID to be better prepared to fight the next pandemic.

Panel members from the federal landscape in health-focused agencies and departments tasked with fighting different aspects of the pandemic  will:

  • Identify specific emerging technologies and corresponding success cases that demonstrate strong cross-agency collaboration in the fight against COVID and project their ability to support fighting future pandemics.
  • Explain how agencies are leveraging data and data standards amid privacy and security concerns to enhance data-sharing and cross-agency collaboration. For instance, the CDC is dedicated to unlocking the full potential of data for disease detection and elimination via The Data Modernization Initiative, a comprehensive strategy to modernize data, technology and workforce capabilities.
  • Highlight resources, capabilities, innovative solutioning, and investments required from the federal contractor community to support future acquisitions geared toward supporting a pandemic response effort.
