Rear Admiral Michael Crockett serves as the National Health Technology Administrator for the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP), Washington DC. RDML Crockett oversees the FBOP Health Services Division’s health informatics, data analytics, and tele-health operations. In this role, he provides executive-level leadership to the development, implementation, and enhancement of the Bureau’s electronic health record, clinical decision support tools, and health technology systems. Before this role RDML Crockett served as Chief, Pharmacy Logistics Support. Additionally, in support of the national COVID-19 response RDML Crockett was detailed to Operation Warp Speed from September 2020 to March 2021 as Liaison Officer representing the Federal Bureau of Prisons and serving as a SME in the field of correctional health. RDML Crockett was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for his efforts at the conclusion of this assignment.
RDML Crockett began his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 2005, serving as Chief Pharmacist at the Federal Correctional Complex, Pollock Louisiana. In this role RDML Crockett pioneered the FBOP remote fill pharmacy program beginning with two sites and continually growing, to ultimately serve approximately 10% of the entire FBOP population.
Throughout his career RDML Crockett has continually accepted positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately arriving at FBOP Central Office in 2017. In 2017, RDML Crockett assumed the position of Chief, Pharmacy Logistics Support. In this role, RDML Crockett was responsible for compiling and analyzing all pharmaceutical purchases for the FBOP, totaling approximately $150 million annually with the goal of maximizing cost-avoidance. RDML Crockett achieved maximal cost-avoidance by developing relationships with industry partners working to create mutually beneficial outcomes. During his tenure in this position, RDML Crockett contributed to the creation of over $200 million in cost-avoidance from fiscal year 2018 to 2021. RDML Crockett was recognized for these efforts on October 23, 2019 as the recipient of the U.S. Attorney General’s Award for Meritorious Public Service.
