Event Overview

Making Progress, Advancing Healthcare Outcomes in an Era of AI

Health IT and artificial intelligence (AI) are central to the Administration’s vision to Make America Healthy Again—driving prevention, improving health outcomes while reducing cost, and doing “more with less.”

The federal government is encouraging greater efficiency by consolidating shared services across departments and agencies. The aim is to lower costs, eliminate duplicate efforts, and upgrade systems. However, success depends on overcoming challenges such as agency adoption obstacles, maintaining quality, and aligning technology with the needs of providers and patients for genuine modernization.

Progress continues to advance toward the creation of a smarter, secure, and personalized healthcare experience for patients. To that end, the federal government received a commitment from leading IT companies to build a foundation for a next-generation digital health system that will improve patient outcomes, lessen provider burden and increase value.

Health IT enables preventative medicine through tools like wearable devices, electronic health records (EHR) for risk tracking, and decision support systems that alert providers to potential health issues. Technology is the driving force that helps shift the healthcare focus from reactive treatment to proactive wellness. Telehealth has become an essential tool for improving access to healthcare, especially for underserved and rural communities. With the advent of AI, providers can move beyond basic virtual visits with patients to create an intelligent, data-driven, and proactive healthcare system.

AI will continue to advance healthcare through AI-powered diagnostics for image analysis, predictive analytics for outbreak and complication forecasting, personalized treatment based on genetics and history, and automated documentation, along with smart triage.

Meanwhile, interoperability is becoming increasingly important in the digital health landscape, serving as the foundation for seamless data exchange. It facilitates connected care and improves operational efficiency by securely linking systems such as EHRs, devices, and applications through standards. The aim is to generate comprehensive patient views, minimize errors, and support researchers.

Robust cybersecurity measures and advanced data privacy protections are needed to safeguard operations against an evolving landscape of cyber threats. Healthcare challenges are intensifying, affecting every aspect of care delivery. Cybersecurity is more than just a compliance requirement or IT issue; it’s crucial to patient care and safety.

We should look for progress and outcomes in AI, interoperability, security and big data analytics, alongside demonstrable improvements in operational efficiency and patient outcomes.

Join us at the 2026 Health IT Summit as we continue to chart the course toward a healthier, more connected future.
