Mr. Thomson serves as the Acting Director for Data Innovation with the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health where he is responsible for planning and executing the agency’s data strategy across internal operational data and scientific data for ARPA-H research programs. Prior to ARPA-H he served as the CIO at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute where he led the development of the NHLBI BioData Catalyst platform, the data strategy for the TOPMed multi-omics program, and more recently worked closely with ODSS on the data strategy for the RECOVER program. He has interests in real world data and the use of AI in proactive health, and in health equity related to the use of AI. He holds degrees in psychology and computer science from the University of Otago in New Zealand.
