Agencies must have the power of data at the point of need and the speed of need, aligning that data with their missions to make accurate decisions in public health emergencies, administer a wide variety of health and human services, acquire the latest health information technology for digital transformation, and conduct life-saving research for the nation. To that end, in addition to harnessing their own data, there is a need for interoperability, the ability to seamlessly exchange health information across different systems. True interoperability and data integration allows federal health agencies to deliver a wide range of programs that are more responsive to citizen and patient needs. However, the lack of standardization at the departmental level for data governance and sharing and the fact that data is largely kept in silos, often hampers the ability to access interagency data in an efficient manner, and to quickly exchange information with other stakeholders.
Join this session to hear federal heath mission leaders discuss how they are using data to unlock a new era in health and human services. Panelists will discuss steps agencies are taking to make data more complete, higher quality, accessible, and representative of all people to better advance their missions and enhance the health and well-being of everyone.
