Jacob Tepp is an Information Technology (IT) Project Manager at the Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). He has served in key roles across DOT since 2008, including IT governance, capital planning, and full-scale IT modernization and cloud migration initiatives for public facing mission support systems. His latest project modernized the FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners system, which allows commercial drivers to find medical examiners (MEs) and is the interface by which MEs upload their medical examinations. This successful modernization effort was recognized in January 2023 with a DOT Secretary's Team Award.
Jacob is experienced in leveraging agile development and management techniques to produce iterative value to customers. He is fascinated by the power a customer-centric approach can bring to problem solving and IT design, and how it is too often left untapped. Jacob is also a proud University of Virginia alumni, having completed both his Bachelor's (in Biomedical Engineering) and Master's (in the Management of Information Technology) degrees at the university.
