Marc Kuzmicki currently serves as the Chief of Staff to the Associate Administrator, where he assists in overseeing agency-wide enterprise operations including information technology, human resources, financial management, congressional and public affairs, and enterprise modernization. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring DEA's internal business operations provide support to its operational mission while driving change to rapidly and effectively adapt the agency's response to global drug threats.
Marc began his law enforcement career over 22 years ago as a Police Officer with the New York City Police Department before joining the DEA in 2008. Once joining DEA, he was assigned to the Los Angeles Field Division where he targeted cartel-affiliated groups responsible for the importation and distribution of drugs along the Southwest Border. He was later promoted to Group Supervisor and a founding member of the Los Angeles Special Response Team. Later, he also served as the Resident Agent in Charge in Reno, Nevada where he was responsible for all DEA operations in the 11 counties making up Northern Nevada.
Since moving to the Washington D.C. area, Mr. Kuzmicki has served in several senior leadership roles such as a Staff Coordinator in DEA's Office of Compliance, where he was a liaison to external auditors such as the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Accountability Office (GAO); a Chief of Staff to DEA's Chief of Operations, where he assisted in overseeing operational, enforcement, and administrative matters for DEA's 241 domestic offices and 91 foreign offices in 68 countries; Assistant Special Agent in Charge supporting operations in Mexico, Canada and Central America; a Senior Liaison to the the U.S. Intelligence Community; and as the Acting Deputy Special in Charge of DEA's Special Operations Division until he began his current role. He now draws upon his diverse experience throughout his career to identify and improve DEA's business practices to better position the agency to succeed at its mission to protect American communities, prevent drug-related deaths, and support those who have been adversely affected by drugs.
