Kimberley “KT” Thompson began her career with TSA Investigations in July 2022 and currently serves as Assistant Administrator/Director of Investigations, where she leads all investigations involving criminal activity, counterintelligence, insider threats, and non-criminal misconduct affecting TSA personnel and operations. She also oversees the TSA National Polygraph Program, six field offices, 20 satellite offices, investigative analysis and digital exploitation capabilities, evidence facilities, and TSA’s case management system.

KT’s leadership brand is grounded in integrity, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of operational excellence. A dynamic and mission driven Senior Executive with 26 years of distinguished service in local and federal government enables her to deliver meaningful business development results through strategic vision and an unwavering commitment to public safety. Over her 21-year tenure with TSA, KT designed and launched benchmark programs that were adopted as best practices across government. From authoring comprehensive requirements packages to conducting in-depth staffing analysis, KT consistently delivers scalable, sustainable solutions to enhance accountability, performance, and impact.

She has a proven ability to translate strategic intent into actionable frameworks, driving cost-saving innovations, modernizing infrastructure, and aligning technology to mission objectives. KT helped draft and shape national policy and advised on high-level initiatives under the National Security Council and DHS. She led the 24/7 operations of TSA’s Transportation Security Operations Center, stood up the TSA Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) vulnerability assessment program, and delivered actionable results for the Congressional Field Efficiency Project. Much more than just a law enforcement officer, she held diverse roles and certifications as an instructor, instructional systems designer, public affairs officer, group supervisor, mentor, and coach.

She holds a master’s degree in Administrative Science and a bachelor’s in Law Enforcement-Police Science. A graduate of the TSA Senior Leadership Development Program and the DHS Senior Executive Service (SES) Candidate Development Program (CDP), KT is also a former president of Women in Federal Law Enforcement. In 2012, she was honored with the WIFLE Outstanding Advocate for Women in Federal Law Enforcement award. She is currently serves as co-chair of the DHS Misconduct Governance Board.
