Daniel Daly was selected as TSA’s Deputy Director for the Information Assurance and Cybersecurity Division in November of 2017. In this role, Dan is responsible for overseeing all aspects of TSA’s cybersecurity and risk management functions within the Office of Information Technology. This includes running the day to day operations of the Division whose scope encompasses everything from cybersecurity policy to intrusion detection and response for the TSA enterprise.

Dan started his career as a Communications Officer in the US Marine Corps in 2004, leveraging technology in various environments. While on active duty, he served with several units including the 9th Communication Battalion as a Radio Platoon Commander, Wide Area Network/Information Assurance Platoon Commander, and the assistant Operations Officer. He also served as the Joint Task Force Enabler Officer in Charge on the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit for the Western Pacific deployment 08-02. Following these assignments, Dan was stationed at the Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Center serving as a Watch Officer and the Operations Officer for Defensive Cyberspace Operations Section. During this time, he was also challenged with engaging numerous threat actors ranging from Nation-States to hacktivists.

After a decade in the military, Dan moved into the civil service, taking a position as the lead for the Discovery and Counter-Infiltration team at the Marine Corps Cyberspace Operations Group. In 2016, Dan transitioned to the TSA, taking the role of the Focused Operations Branch Manager, running TSA’s digital forensics, malware analysis, and Advanced Network Operations teams. While assigned to this role, Dan also laid the foundation for the creation of TSA’s threat hunting and threat emulation capabilities.

Dan is also the co-owner of Spectrum Autism Services, an applied behavior analysis company where he and his wife follow their passion for helping children on the autism spectrum. In addition to numerous cybersecurity certifications, Dan holds a Bachelors in Political Science, Masters in Cybersecurity, and a Masters in Business Administration.
