On November 23, 2023, Doğan Perese, began serving as the Assistant Director of the IT Applications and Data Division after over six years of various assignments in the Division. These included two years as Assistant Section Chief in the Case Management Applications Section, one and a half years as Section Chief in the Enterprise Applications and Database Services Section, one and a half years as Section Chief in the Enterprise Data Analytics Section, several months as Acting Section Chief in the Enterprise Cybersecurity Section, and over one year as Deputy Assistant Director.
Prior to joining the FBI, for over 20 years, Mr. Perese was president and chief executive officer of a San Antonio, Texas-based computer hardware sales and leasing company that evolved into a network service and applications development company, operating in the U.S., Japan, and Europe. He was elected Chair of the University of Texas at San Antonio Advisory Council and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Texas Public Radio. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard University.
Mr. Perese entered on duty with the FBI in 2008 as a Language Analyst assigned to the San Antonio Division, where he worked cases involving French and Spanish communications dealing with counterintelligence, criminal, and counterterrorism matters.
From 2010 to 2012, he served as a Language Analyst in Legat Paris, interpreted for the Attorney General in several countries, and completed TDY assignments in Algeria, Djibouti, Mauritania and Morocco. In recognition of his service, Mr. Perese received Joint Duty Credit in 2010.
In 2012, Mr. Perese transferred to the Terrorist Screening Center as a Management and Program Analyst, working on change management initiatives and watch listing redress appeals.
In 2014, Mr. Perese transferred to the newly formed Intelligence Branch, where he served as Foreign Language Program Manager and then Assistant Section Chief. In this position, he oversaw the FBI's National Intelligence Program performance management, strategy, policy, coordination, communications, compliance, and auditing. He also led an initiative to substantially reduce administrative workload by pulling data from Sentinel to report on analytic level of effort, for which he received the Best Paper award from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in 2015.
Mr. Perese is a former United States Soccer Federation National Referee. He lives in Washington, D.C., and he has five children.
