Colonel Peter V. Huynh started his military career with the U.S. Army by commissioning through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at the University of Washington in 1996. He has served in progressive leadership roles in his 20+ years military career starting as an IT project manager at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He currently serves as the Chief Digital Officer at the Office of the Surgeon General (OTSG)/U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) supporting 1.1M service members globally. He is also the 70D/Health Services System Management Consultant to The Surgeon General. COL Huynh is a published author and national-recognized speaker. He is a proud father with two kids and two Doodles. He is an avid outdoors person and enjoys traveling, golfing, scuba diving, and snowboarding.

COL Huynh is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executive (FACHE), Fellow Member of Health Information Management Systems Society (FHIMSS), Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer (CHCIO) with the College of Healthcare Information Management Executive (CHIME), and holds other prestigious professional certifications. Peter completed his undergraduate studies in Business Administration at University of Washington and his graduate studies at Baylor University with a dual Master’s in Business Administration and Health Administration, and a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. Peter is also trained as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB), and Defense Acquisition University Engineering and Technical Management Practitioner. Peter also serves on the HIMSS National Capital Area Board of Directors as Communications Chair and is active with CHIME Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

COL Huynh’s previous military assignment was as the Chief Technology Officer at OTSG/MEDCOM in Falls Church, VA, Chief Information Officer at Brooke Army Medical Center at JBSA, TX, Deputy Chief of Staff G-6 at 18th Medical Command (Deployment Support) at Fort Shafter Annex, A-6 of Task Force Medical East at Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Afghanistan. Previously, he was the S-6 for the 6250th US Army Hospital in JBLA, WA, Deputy Chief of Staff G-6 with 30th Medical Brigade in Heidelberg, GE, and IT Director with North Atlantic Regional Medical Command and Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with oak leaf cluster), Army Commendation Medal (with oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal. He also holds the Expert Field Medical Badge and Parachutist Badge. He is the recipient of The Surgeon General's "A" Proficiency Designator, and the Order of Military Medical Merit.
