Mr. Burgess serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (HHS OASH). He began his Federal career in 2002 and served in multiple technical, operational, and senior level management roles in the Department of Homeland Security, Commerce, and now Health & Human Services. He excels at exploiting and fusing modern technologies to meet organizational mission needs by employing highly adaptable and visionary thought leadership. Mr. Burgess has successfully driven large-scale digital transformation and business optimization efforts at HHS/OASH, USPTO, and TSA by placing an emphasis on cultivating adaptable organizational cultures and implementing durable IT ecosystems to meet evolving stakeholder expectations and business/mission needs.
