Shanna Hartman is a Technical Advisor in the Health Informatics and Interoperability Group (HIIG) at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). With background in Nursing Informatics and Health Information Technology (IT) system implementations, her current role at CMS brings a mix of standards development, electronic health record reporting, clinical quality measures, and education and outreach to improve clinical outcomes of patients and beneficiaries. She is currently working on interoperability and technology policies to improve electronic data exchange. Prior to her role at CMS, Shanna was a Registered Nurse at the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and a Nursing Clinical Instructor before finding her passion for nursing informatics.
