Senior Advisor for Data Innovation, Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H)
Mr Thomson serves as a senior advisor to the leadership of ARPA-H with a focus on innovations associated with biomedical data. He serves as the technical lead for the ARPA-H Biomedical Data Fabric Toolbox (BDF) program, a collaboration between ARPA-H and the National Cancer Institutes that is a key component of the Biden Administration’s Cancer Moonshot. In BDF, Mr Thomson is taking his experiences as a leader in biomedical data sharing from his time as Chief Information Officer at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute where he led the development of the NHLBI’s BioData Catalyst cloud based -omics platform, and the NIH Cloud Platform Interoperability (NCPI) program as well as providing direct support for NHLBI’s 72 intramural laboratories. Mr Thomson has an eclectic background that ranges from biomedical research data to broadcast television production, computer animation, logistics, insurance, finance and telecommunications.
