Cheryl R. Campbell serves as Assistant Secretary for Administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, supporting the agency's mission to enhance the health and well-being of all Americans. As the first African American woman in this role, she works with the HHS Secretary, overseeing an agency with an annual budget of over $1.77 trillion, which accounts for almost one out of every five federal dollars spent on the American people. The Assistant Secretary directs the enterprise efforts of Human Resources, Occupational Health, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility, covering more than 84,000 employees in the U.S. and internationally. Her portfolio includes HHS's $7 billion Information Technology and Cybersecurity portfolio, ensuring it is up-to-date, secure, and able to meet the Department's ever-evolving data needs as the Chair of the HHS Data Integrity Board. Administrative operations under her leadership include the management of more than 2 million square feet of HHS-occupied space in over 70 federal and commercial facilities in the United States. Her office partners with customers to develop and implement leading-edge supply chain solutions. This includes deploying personnel to support unaccompanied children as part of refugee resettlement or mobilizing medical supplies such as COVID-19 tests and vaccines to meet mission requirements worldwide. She successfully renegotiated the collective bargaining agreement with the National Treasury Employees Union, which affects 16,000 frontline employees. The new contract is a positive turning point between the union and HHS.
Ms. Campbell has an extensive background as a successful chief corporate executive with over 30 years of profit-driven results for publicly traded companies on Wall Street, such as CGI, Inc. and SAIC, overseeing a $4 billion technology-related portfolio. Ms. Campbell earned a Dual Global Executive MBA from Georgetown's McDonough School of Business and ESADE Business and Law School, ranked among the world's top international business and law schools. She also holds a B.S. in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland.
She is the wife of Stanley Campbell and mother of three sons, Christopher, Alan, and Stanley III. She and her husband are part of the growing handful of African-American golf course owners, with two PGA-certified courses, the Martin Downs Golf and County Club of Florida and the North Green Golf and Country Club of North Carolina.
