Name
Telehealth Breakout Session | Lessons Learned and a Path Forward: Telehealth's Continued Evolution.
Date & Time
Tuesday, January 30, 2024, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Description

During the pandemic, telehealth grew from being an underutilized resource to the preferred way for many people to receive care. Over the past two years, telehealth has continued to evolve, ensuring citizen access to health care in multiple federal health care programs. The expansion of telehealth and remote health monitoring offers efficiencies and wider reach of care, but also creates challenges related to program integrity, data management, and security. As home and remote monitoring technologies generate vast amounts of patient data, diagnostics and other health information, federal agencies will need data management technology and strategies to better analyze, manage and secure this data. Telehealth initiatives increasingly will rely on analytics, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and big data solutions to give all stakeholders the ability to make more data-driven and real-time decisions. Telehealth is expanding in ways patients and healthcare professionals would have never considered before, from remote patient monitoring before and after chemotherapy to diabetes management to mental health support.

Join this session to hear how federal health leaders are working to boost efficiency, accessibility, and quality in telehealth initiatives and services, especially as it relates to health equity. Panelists will discuss telehealth successes, challenges and how to continue to expand virtual care to increase the number of people who use telehealth on a regular basis.
